Character summary
The customer service agent at Alaska Airlines (AS) is responsible for assisting guests with their travel needs. As a member of the passenger services team, it responds to individual guest inquiries and performs various tasks in the areas of ticketing, check-in and boarding. This is the position of representation of the Union.
Key Duties
Support guests' travel needs in a fast-paced environment (such as answering inquiries, ticketing, checking passengers, and boarding flights).
Sell tickets and ensure cabin accommodation.
Perform computer and paperwork.
Evaluate and prepare flights by arranging seat assignments and loads, tailoring special meals, and upgrades.
Perform boarding and gate functions (e.g., checking flight tickets, assisting and directing passengers, making announcements, inspecting aircraft, and verifying cabin security).
Secure process and passenger luggage.
At the direction of the management, guests may be assigned to perform duties of various abilities to ensure complete satisfaction.
Specialized job experience, education and skills
Required
At least 2 years of customer service or community service experience.
Gain exceptional interaction and communication skills (such as oral, written, listening).
Minimum 25 WPM typing speed.
Ability to lift 50 pounds permanently.
Must be able to bend, jump, squat, reach and grasp
Flexibility to work on different shifts (such as weekends, holidays).
Eligibility to participate in paid training.
Ability to learn and operate computerized reservation system.
Ability to adapt to the procedure.
Ability to assess the needs of others in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to communicate in English.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum age 18 years.
Must be authorized to work in the United States.
